Designer: Laura CampionAn airy dropped stitch poncho.
Materials• 41 peg Round loom used for the pictured poncho (Knifty Knitter yellow)
• loom pick
• crochet hook
• yarn needle
• 3+ skeins of 4ply acrylic (depending on size)
DROPPED STITCH INSTRUCTIONSCast on in your preferred method. Use 2 strands of 4ply acrylic. You will need to start the “dropped / slipped stitch” pattern with your cast on row. You are knitting a FLAT PANEL.
E-wrap the first 2 pegs, drop yarn behind the 3rd peg & wrap the following 2 pegs, drop yarn behind the next 1 peg & wrap the next 2 pegs, drop yarn behind the following 1 peg & continue until you’ve filled the loom.
The model is a size small top (4-6, 32/34” bust) and the panels created were about 21” long, 75 rows + cast on & bind off rows. This used about 3 skeins. Knit a swatch to figure gauge & adjust for size desired.
Knit 2 panels. Sew panels together as shown in diagram, this can be done with the yarn needle or by a single crochet chain.
Leave about 20 loops on each side of both panels for the neck. Slip the knitting through the center of the loom, and slip the stitches on the pegs to the loom. Knit 8 rows of braid stitch, e-wrap a single strand of 4ply 4 times on the loom & knit off 3 rows over 1.
ALTERNATIVE – WARM e-WRAP: Use chunky or thick yarn & single e-wrap every peg for approx 110 rows.
To form a rolled turtleneck knit stitch approx 20 rows at the neck. This creates a very thick warm poncho.
